Govt accepts young doctors’ demands

LAHORE: Provincial Secretary Health Fawad Hassan Fawad has stated that demands of young doctors pertaining to raise in salary and free of cost treatment to their family members have been accepted, SCI News reported on Saturday.

Secretary Health said that salary of house job doctors would be raised by Rs12,000, while post graduate under training doctors salary by Rs20,000. The raise in salary would be applicable from July 01, 2011.

After acceptance of young doctors’ demand, there is no reason left for strike, he said and added that demand of doctors for increasing Rs30,000 from medical officer to professor is unacceptable.

Meanwhile, young doctors are not satisfied with this announcement, saying that government should raise the salary by Rs30,000 besides providing security to them.
